Unique geological history in Milos

Under the surface of the earth, lies a fascinating world. There is no better place to discover the diverse geological paths than in Milos, an island that literally rose out of the Aegean Sea; earthquakes, tsunamis and under-water volcanic eruptions created a captivating colorful and exotic landscape considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world.

Milos is an open- air geological museum offering you the chance to witness unique geological phenomena. The Mining Museum narrates the mining history of the island and its Obsidian collection is amazing.

Discover the island’s salt fields that have defined the island’s history since the Middle Ages, pass through the steep entrance of the Crater of Fyriplaka with the century-old cedar grove, admire the steaming fumaroles at Kalamos and the commanding Aggeria mine, the largest active bentonite mine in Europe.

Milos is a natural wonder and as such, it promises an experience beyond imagination.

Delos: The sacred island

Drop anchor in Delos, the UNESCO world heritage site where history and mythology come alive. Delos, according to mythology is the birthplace of the Gods, Apollo and his twin sister Artemis. Their mother, relentlessly pursued by the jealous Hera for her indiscretion with Zeus, sought a safe haven to give birth to his twins.

By Zeus’ magical intervention Delos suddenly appeared out of the sea and Leto gave birth to the twins. From that moment on, Delos became the most sacred of all islands bathed in Apollo’s shimmering light.

The archaeological museum at the scenic port houses one of Greece’s most significant collections and is an absolute must on your journey into Delos’ past.

The natural wonder of Meteora

Suspended in mid-air; the definition of “Meteora”. Breath-taking, spiritual, awe-inspiring, almost magical, these words best describe the Meteora setting with the 14th century monasteries built on the summits and cliffs of the famed precipitous rocks. Wild nature beckons in this sensational landscape where the overwhelming rocky formations and the prehistoric Theopetra cave create a captivating setting.

The UNESCO Heritage Site of Meteora is much more than a natural marvel. Its Byzantine monasteries impress with their architecture. Breathtaking views enhance every step of your journey into this unique destination that brings together the uniqueness of its surroundings and the spiritual and cultural wealth that abounds.
